About Us
The Northern Plight is a satirical news blog in the tradition of The Onion and Lark News that focuses on the goings ons at a Pentecostal Christian Undergraduate College in Minneapolis, MN called North Central University.
Mission Statement
The Northern Plight exists to create healthy conversation with
the intent of generating positive change at North Central University.
These stories are our chosen genre for discussing student life, theology, life as a twenty-something, the idiosycrasies of Christian subculture, and our ideas about how to make our relationships with each other and this God guy more authentic. In our eyes, a successful post creates a conversation. That means it’s probably funny, it’s hopefully original, and maybe, if it’s especially inventive, it sparks some controversy.
We hope students, faculty, staff, alumni, and those outside of the North Central body can find a story here worth talking about. Please post your comments, please disagree with us, and please, be awesome.

The Name
The name “Northern Plight” is a lampoon on the original name for the school newspaper, “The Northern Light.”
